Cool Summer Nights: Astronomy Night

On July 23, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum hosts Cool Summer Nights: Astronomy Night, where admission prices start under $20 with kids three and under free. The museum is open late on Saturday evenings throughout the summer with different themes and special happenings every week. Museum docents are on hand to answer questions and showcase our celestial desert skies. From hosting live animals on some nights to showing off the fluorescent minerals in Arizona, there’s always something exciting happening here after dark.

For this event, the museum is teaming up with the National Optical Astronomy Observatory for a night of stargazing adventures. Learn about solar systems, and how our system works with beauty and wonder. Check out the newest stars we’ve discovered, and use the museum’s incredible telescopes. Plus, the “Live and (sort of) on the Loose” animal program will be making an appearance!

Geeks Unite

Every Saturday evening program is from 6-10pm, and you can call 520-883-2702 for more information. Additional events in July include the Creatures of the Night on July 2, where you can find out (up close and personal!) what kind of critters we share the night with. On July 9, discover Volcanoes and Vaquitas.

For even more, the July 16 Full Moon Festival lets you see just how gorgeous Arizona can be when the moon is bright, and July 30 is another Creatures of the Night exhibit where you’ll be introduced to even more Tucson dwellers with more than two legs!
