Labor Day Options in Tucson

Spending the last long weekend of summer in Tucson? There are plenty of family-friendly activities to keep you busy! Check out the Chasing Villa Exhibit at the Arizona History Museum. Military service members, veterans, and their families all get free admission for Labor Day, and it’s a great place to cool off between sightseeing. The Tucson Frontier Life exhibit at Fort Lowell Museum is another excellent choice where you can also score complimentary admission for the entire crew.

Cool Summer Nights at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum happens every Saturday night through October 3rd, so you can squeeze in the last event of the season and get a unique glimpse at the nocturnal animals. There are also special summer exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art through September 25th, and it’s another place where military families get free admission.

Action-Packed Weekend

The Arizona State Museum at the ASU campus is also participating in the free admission weekend, and the Paths of Life: American Indians of the Southwest and Northern Mexico exhibit only lasts through the end of the year. Afterward, stroll the Sosa-Carrillo Fremont Exhibit House, which was built in the 1870s and is one of the city’s oldest buildings.

Tucson Fall Gem Shows take place through September 11th, featuring lapidary shows all around town. Check out the website to find the shows that call to you. Where will you kick off your holiday weekend?
