Philabaum Glass Gallery and Studio

Looking for unique treasures in Tucson? Tom Philabaum established his first glassblowing studio over 40 years ago in downtown. Quickly becoming a leader in regional glassblowing by the 1980s, Philabaum became co-chair of the Glass Arts Society and his studio/gallery became a hub for exhibitions, demos and displays in Tucson in the past few decades. Here, masterpieces meet accessibility for all art lovers.

Temporary exhibits like North Carolina Perspectives bring together glassblowing artists from around the world. Discover the unique style of the Carolinas, featuring four one of a kind approaches: flameworking, Filigrana and Battuto. Philabaum’s own work is also always on display, as well as pieces from artists around the U.S. With a seating area that lets you watch artists at work, it’s an incredible experience for any Tucson visitor.

Blown Away

Visit the studio and gallery at 711 S. 6th Avenue right in the heart of downtown Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. You never know what artists might be whipping up in the workspace, or what unique pieces may be available for purchase.

Commissioned works are also available. Popular items include paperweights, which make perfect gifts, and memorial urns. Call ahead to be sure of glassblowing studio hours or to request a special item.
