Tucson Snags 2nd Place for America’s Top City

What does it take to get second place for America’s best, small (under one million people) city? Great food, a bike-friendly vibe and the chance to see and do it all in one fell swoop. Those were the major factors Resonance—think tank consultancy—used to rank a variety of cities for their 2017 results. First place went to Honolulu, so the competition was clearly fierce.

Resonance pointed out the many museums in the city, including the amazing biosphere, coupled with casinos and planetariums. There’s truly something for everyone, including unique options such as Old West tours, caving and galleries like you’ve never seen before. Plus, Tucson just keeps adding more attractions, so you have to hustle to keep up.

Earning the Silver

The judges at Resonance loved how bike-friendly Tucson is. Recently, additions were made to the already-existing 700 bike lanes and there are now over 150 miles to explore. Cyclists are also catered to with mixed-use bike boulevards on roads that aren’t as populated. However, cyclists are encouraged to bike at dusk or dawn this time of year. It’s hot out there!

Food has long been a big draw of Tucson, with Resonance calling it a “food mecca.” Of course there’s plenty of Sonoran influences, but you can find every type of cuisine here. After all, Tucson is home to the oldest continuously farmed land in North America at over 4,000 years old. Take a look at the full video and start planning your trip:
