Tucson’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

The biggest party in Tucson is the official, annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. You can run the “Green Isle Mile,” a fun 5k for all ages, check out the traditional music and dancing throughout the day, and of course indulge in lucky corned beef and cabbage. Entry to this event is always free, and the gates open at 10 a.m. at Armory Park with the parade kicking off at 11.

The Tucson Irish Community hosts the parade but is also behind numerous other festivals and celebrations year-round. You can keep in touch with this organization to be the first to know about pop-up events, musical celebrations, and other more low-key ways to celebrate in Tucson.

A Little Luck

Throughout the city, you’ll find green beer and Irish specials at pubs, restaurants and clubs. The Wooden Nickel Tavern is a favorite for this holiday, or the Boondocks Lounge is known for a party that goes late into the night.

With St. Paddy’s Day falling on a Friday this year, you can bet the town will be alive with party options, and you’ll need to be sporting your green to avoid any pinches. Start the party at the parade site, then see where the lucky day takes you.
