World Margarita Championship

You read that correctly—there’s a global championship to crown the makers of the best margaritas, and it all happens in Tucson September 30! This (clearly) 21 and older event takes place at the local Westin and is hosted by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance as well as the Tucson Originals. Attendees weigh in on who makes the tastiest cocktail with samples and tastings galore, along with plenty of cuisine options that pair perfectly with the most famous tequila-based drink.

Vote for your favorite, and ultimately a panel of judges will crown the “World Margarita Champ” for another year. However, for many competitors, it’s the People’s Choice Award that really matters, so make sure you taste, judge and vote for every delicious cocktail.

Bottoms Up!

Tickets start at just $55 and include tequila, margarita and food samplings. It’s a good idea to purchase tickets early (and figure out your driving situation!) because this beloved event has been known to sell out. It starts at 6 p.m., and there are so many food and drink options at this fiesta that it’s more than dinner-ready, so come hungry.

Visit the official website for tickets and to check out some of the competitors from years past. Local eateries like Agustin Kitchen, Pastiche, Rigo’s Restaurant, and Jonathan’s Cork regularly make an appearance, and each restaurant has a signature margarita they’re sure will win the gold. Who are you voting for?
